iCore Networks Wins UNCF Contract for Internet Telephony

Nation’s Largest Minority Education Organization Selects iCore’s Unified Telecom System

McLean, VA - June 9, 2009 – UNCF–the United Negro College Fund– the nation’s largest and most effective minority education organization has partnered with iCore Networks, the D.C. metro area’s leading provider of Voice over Private Internet (VoPI) services, to implement a centralized phone system using VoPI.

“Technology is driving telephony communications to a whole new level,” said iCore CEO and Chairman Stephen Canton. “UNCF is looking to iCore to help them achieve a higher level of productivity through tech-driven telecom.”

“iCore’s VoPI system will enable UNCF to integrate its telephony system at headquarters and more than 20 branch offices nationwide,” said Michael L. Lomax, Ph.D., UNCF president and CEO. “This will allow our entire organization to operate seamlessly and more cost-effectively.”

UNCF serves the youth, the community and the nation by supporting its 39 member historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) in acquiring the resources necessary to provide students with a high quality education. Additionally, UNCF provides students with the support they need to gain access to and graduate from college prepared for competitive employment, further educational advancement and active participation in civil society.

Currently UNCF is using multiple phone service providers to handle the telephony needs of its 20 locations throughout the United States. Each service provider has a different billing method, different available features and different price points. Under the existing setup, a centralized solution is not possible.

iCore’s telephony network provides advanced call features while reducing capital expenses and monthly telecommunications costs. The new service will allow four-digit dialing between all UNCF offices and unlimited local and long distance in the United States. iCore’s system also provides an Auto Attendant that has the ability to route calls to locations and individuals as designed.

“Voice quality, reliability and customer service are always important to telecom customers,” said Canton, “and iCore delivers on all three counts.” iCore’s voice quality is consistently rated as equal or better than landlines by independent rating firms. The company’s reliable, secure business-class networking solution uses VoPI technology backed by Cisco Systems, considered the defacto industry standard. In addition, iCore offers 24/7/365 customer service with a single point of contact.

Together, the features and benefits provided by the iCore network can help UNCF staff members get more done in less time. “In today’s technology-driven telecom business,” Canton said, “productivity is what it’s all about.”
